Badr Expedition

Overview

Embark on a powerful journey from Madinah to Badr, the site of the first and most decisive battle in Islamic history. This expedition takes you to the very land where the early Muslim community, led by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, stood against overwhelming odds and witnessed a victory granted by Allah.

Located approximately 150 km from Madinah, Badr is not just a historical destination, it is a place of reflection, sacrifice, and unwavering faith.

The Battlefield of Badr

Visit the plains where the Battle of Badr took place on the 17th of Ramadan, 2 AH. Here, 313 المسلمين faced an army of over 1,000, yet were granted victory through faith, strategy, and divine support. Standing on this land allows you to reflect on a moment that changed the course of Islamic history, often referred to as Yawm al-Furqan, the day truth was distinguished from falsehood.

Grave of the Martyrs (Shuhada Badr)

Visit the resting place of the companions who were martyred in the Battle of Badr. These noble individuals gave their lives in defence of Islam and are honoured for their sacrifice. This site provides a moment for reflection on sincerity, sacrifice, and the legacy of the early believers.

Masjid al-’Areesh

Visit Masjid al-‘Areesh, located at the site where a shelter was built for the Prophet ﷺ during the battle, from where he made du‘a and oversaw the events. This location highlights the importance of reliance upon Allah, even when taking practical means.

The Wells of Badr

Explore the wells of Badr, which played a strategic role during the battle. Control over water sources was a key factor in the المسلمين gaining advantage. These wells remind us of the planning, foresight, and wisdom exercised during the battle.

Jabal al-Malaika (Mount of the Angels)

Visit the area associated with Jabal al-Malaika, traditionally linked to the descent of angels sent to support the believers during the battle. This serves as a reminder that victory comes from Allah alone, even when circumstances seem impossible.

Journey of Faith and Relection

Badr is not defined by large structures or monuments, but by the events that took place here. It is a place where faith overcame fear, where sincerity was tested, and where the early Muslims demonstrated complete reliance upon Allah. This Ziyarah invites you to reflect deeply on these lessons and connect with one of the most defining moments in Islamic history.

Guided Experience

Throughout the journey, you will receive clear and informative English commentary, helping you understand both the historical events and their deeper significance. This transforms your visit into a meaningful and reflective experience rather than simply visiting locations.
